Hey Digital Communicators, I’m John Falke from Johnny Flash Productions and Amplified Impact, and this is 101 Ways to Attract More Visitors, a practical guide for churches to amplify their impact and reach their communities. Now let’s amp it up.

#11, use sermon series. Sermon series are really powerful because they group similar sermons together. Whether you’re studying a book of the Bible or a character or a topic, you can group those together and you can have a series graphic and video that help kind of put those into people’s mind.

And when you doing a sermon series and you’re about to start one, you can kind of give a taste, right? You can give a 30 second clip, you can have some kind of catchy hook, “Hey, in two weeks we’re going to be talking about this” and you can put it out there. Ask a few questions and then a week out you can kind of remind them again.

The reason that sermon series are so popular in churches right now is because they give a natural way for people to invite their friends to church, every few weeks. Sermon series allow you to preview what is coming up. So if you’re going to spend four weeks looking at the leadership lessons Timothy learned than why not give it some kind of title that will be intriguing and let people know a couple weeks in advance that’s what you’re going to be studying. Even Andy Stanley has talked about it before.

I think it was that Catalyst when I heard him speak one time and he was talking about seasons and why they close his church for a week at Christmas and how they leveraged sermon series because it’s a natural interval of encouraging people to invite their friends every few weeks and it provides an easy entry point for new people to come and not feel like they’ve missed the last seven weeks of sermons. And you’re now kind of on week eight and they don’t know what you’re talking about because they haven’t been there the last seven weeks, right? And so it kind of packages the sermons up into small groups and allows people to invite their friends.
