Hey Digital Communicators, I’m John Falke from Johnny Flash Productions and Amplified Impact, and this is 101 Ways to Attract More Visitors, a practical guide for churches to amplify their impact and reach their communities. Now let’s amp it up.
Number 37 Give a Preview. Here’s the reality people are more likely to invite their friends if they know what’s going to happen next week and the week after so give them a preview. Everybody loves movie trailers, right? I do and my kids love them.
Does your church build anticipation of what is coming up? Life Church does a great job of this. @johnfalke Share on XThis is what will happen… we’ll sit down for family movie night. We’ve got our popcorn and everything and we’re you know getting ready to sit down and watch a movie together with my kids my wife and before we start the movie My kids will say, “hey can we watch the trailer?” And I’m like “we’re about to watch the whole movie.” But they like to see a little tease of what’s going to happen so they kind of have a general understanding of what’s what the story is going to be about and have some anticipation for the movie that we’re about to watch.
And so in the same way, you want to give a preview of what’s going to happen at your church next week and the week after. So people get excited about it they want to tell their friends about it. They’re anticipating what’s going to happen and they’re excited about it.
So create a video create a little social media tease. However you need to do it, so that you can both in your service and in your communication channels give a little tease about what’s coming up. Life Church does a great job of this in the summer when they do their movie series. They’ll have a number of videos or different things leading up to this series that a lot of people invite their friends to and it just builds the excitement and it makes it more comfortable for people to invite their friends.
So I encourage you to give a preview of what’s coming up and you only need to do this every few weeks right. Because if you’re going to do a series for four or five weeks then maybe a week or two before that you give a preview and then you don’t need to give a preview for a few weeks and then once you’re getting near the end of that series you’re going to start a new series then give another preview for.
In the next video we’re going to talk about the importance of making your worship service consistent so that people will feel comfortable inviting their friends. Until then amp it up.
