Number 21 Be Listed in Directories. Now I know this may sound counterintuitive in the day of Google search and Facebook but the reality is a lot of people still use online directories when they’re trying to find a church. So if someone’s relocated maybe because of their job or because of the military or something and they’re going to a certain church that’s connected with a certain network, they’re going to try to find a similar church when they relocate.

So if your church is part of a denomination make sure your information on the denominational website is up to date because people may use that to find a new church. And there’s a number of other resources that you can use in addition, like the Willow Creek Association. You can pay a small fee and become part of the Willow Creek Association. And a lot of people will look for one of those type of churches when they relocate. So that’s a great online directory.

There’s also a number of other websites like The Acts 29 Network, USAchurches.org, ChurchFinder.com and your state might have a church directory as well. So type the name of your state. I’m in Virginia, so I would type “Virginia church directory” and then see what websites come up near the top and make sure your information is in there that it’s accurate and if possible there’s a link to your church website.

Now not only will some people use these online directories to find your church but you’ll also benefit from having backlinks to your church website. Because the more links you can get out on the Internet that are on quality websites that link back to your church website than the higher ranking your church website is going to be and the more incoming traffic you’re going to get organically. So that’s another benefit of using online church directories.
