Hey Digital Communicators, I’m John Falke from Johnny Flash Productions and Amplified Impact, and this is 101 Ways to Attract More Visitors, a practical guide for churches to amplify their impact and reach their communities. Now let’s amp it up.

#19, Be a Visitor Again. When you’re on staff at a church or you’re heavily involved in a church, you oftentimes rarely get to visit another church and so what you need to do is carve out some time, pickup few weekends that you can miss or you know, have someone cover for you or if you have multiple services, maybe you can kind of leave a little early or go a little late and visit some other churches in your area that have it going on.

Find some churches in your area that you’ve heard great things about or that you’ve seen great communication from and just go visit there and see how it is to be a visitor again. See how it is to, to park and to go in and to kind of navigate their building. And if you have kids, take your kids with you so you can see what that experience is like for checking them in and getting them to their class.

Sometimes you’ve been somewhere so long that you can’t remember what it’s like to be a visitor. @johnfalke Share on X

Are they excited about the class or are they not? What do they like about it? What don’t they like about it? And they can give you feedback even within how the children’s ministry was run compared to the church they’re used to normally going to and so you can get lots of insights, take notes about the things that you know had an impact on you as a visitor or things that you appreciate it. And then maybe there’s some things that they do that you don’t really like or that feel awkward and stuff and then kind of go back and re-evaluate those things at your own church.

There’s so much that we can learn from each other. And so make sure you’re a visitor again and go somewhere that you haven’t been before, that you don’t know how they do church exactly. And just experience it like a visitor and then go back to your church and make your visitor experience even better.

Look at the things that you need to improve or the things that you liked at the other church or maybe the things that were awkward and you’re like, “We need to make sure we don’t do this. Because when they made me stand as a visitor, it was just so uncomfortable and I felt like I was being singled out and I really didn’t want to.” Take those observations and make it an even better experience for the visitors at your own church.

In the next video, I’m going to show you how to leverage Google to get even more visitors to your church. Until then amp it up.
