Hey Digital Communicators, I’m John Falke from Johnny Flash Productions and Amplified Impact, and this is 101 Ways to Attract More Visitors, a practical guide for churches to amplify their impact and reach their communities. Now let’s amp it up.
#10, follow-up with visitors. Now there are two ways to add more visitors, right? You can either have more first time visitors or you can have repeat visitors. And the way that you have repeat visitors is that you follow up with them in multiple ways, right? First, you have to have a great experience.
They’ve got to love coming, all the things that we’ve been talking about, you know, in the last few ways, then you’ve got to follow up with them because life happens. People are busy and so, you know, they may have things going on, their first thought may not be to just come back to church, but when you follow up with them, show them that you care about them, that you’re excited, that they came, that you’re excited for them to come back, that makes it so much easier for them to try coming again.
What is your follow-up process for first-time visitors? @johnfalke Share on XSo look at your follow-up process. Do you do anything right after the service to follow up with them, to see how they like it, to answer any questions they have, connect with them, and meet them? That’s a great opportunity right after the service. If you have some way to kind of meet them and talk with them face to face.
But then once they leave, are you going to give them a phone call? Are you going to send them an email? Are you going to send them a letter? Are you going to send them a gift in the mail? I’ll never forget one time we visited a church and we had gotten back from lunch and literally like probably like an hour, hour and a half after I had been to the church, someone showed up at our door with fresh baked cookies from the church and just said, “Hey, we’re from this church and we know it was your first time visiting this morning and we’re so excited that you came. We saw you were in the area and we were just passing by and just wanted to drop off some fresh baked cookies.”
And I was blown away. I was like, “Wow, that is incredible and we’re so appreciative.” And the cookies were really yummy and it just left an impression. Right? And then when you get that pastor’s email or the letter in the mail and stuff, you’re a lot more receptive to it because we’ve just had such a good experience and the follow-up is really warm.
So figure out what your follow-up is going to be for your first time visitor. You’re second time visitor, you know, how are you going to appreciate them? How are you going to thank them for coming and let them know that you care about them and that there’s a god who loves them and so look at your follow-up process and tweak that and make it really, really good.
In the next video, I’m going show you how to use sermon series to attract more visitors. Until then, amp it up.
